Bio:  Qiankun Zhao is a research scientist at AOL  Labs China at Beijing since June 2007. Before that, he worked as a Postdoc Fellow at Penn State University, College of IST, with Dr. Prasenjit Mitra and C. Lee Giles in the ChemXSeer project from May 2006 to May 2007. Qiankun did his PhD study at School of Computer Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, with Dr. Sourav Bhowmick from 2002 to 2006. Before that, Qiankun got his bachelor degree from the college of management major in management information system from HUST, wuhan China, in 2001.

Research interests:

  • Web Search: personalization, collaborative search, and vertical search
  • Social Network: blog analysis, finance analysis, information flow, and network evolution
  • Mobile Search: location based search, dynamic updating, small display, mobile social analysis
  • Image Retrieval: annotation, classification, clustering, and story detection
